Russia Information
Russia is located on the Eurasian landmass. It is the largest country in the world, and its inhabitants account for about 2.86 percent of Eurasia's population. Russia's population density is about 21.8 persons per square mile. The Russian Federation, as it is officially known, was formed in 1991, after the collapse of the USSR. Bounded by several European countries to its west, by the Pacific Ocean to its east, and by the Arctic Ocean to its north, Russia is populated by many ethnic groups including ethnic Russians, who comprise about eighty percent of the population.
