States Information

In the United States, a state is one of fifty distinct units of government with political and land boundaries. Each state is further divided into counties, which contain cities. States are responsible for handling law enforcement, public education, health, and transportation. Delaware became the first U.S. state in 1787, and Hawaii became the fiftieth in 1959.
