     Ireland Information
     Ireland, an island nation in western Europe, is the one hundred and twentieth largest country in the world; its inhabitants account for about 0.63 percent of Europe's population.  Ireland's population density is about 168 persons per square mile.  Officially known as the Irish Republic, the country achieved independence in 1937 after centuries of struggle under British rule.  Most of its inhabitants are of Irish ethnicity.
