The gospel, which means "good news", comprises the biography of Jesus Christ and the message that Jesus preached. The gospel story is that Jesus came into the world to save sinners, that he suffered and died on a cross, was buried, rose from the dead three days later, and ascended into heaven about forty days later. According to the New King James Translation of the Holy Bible, the gospel message is this: "if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." This text is found in the Epistle to the Romans, chapter 10, verse 9.
