Clouds are tiny water droplets or ice crystals that are suspended in the atmosphere. According to the World Meteorological Organization, there are ten types of clouds. High clouds, found above 20,000 feet in altitude, are composed of ice crystals that do not produce precipitation. Middle clouds, found between 6,500 and 20,000 feet in altitude, are composed of water droplets and ice crystals. Low clouds, found below 6,500 feet in elevation, are composed of water droplets and, sometimes, ice crystals. Clouds of vertical development are tall clouds that extend between low and high altitudes.
