Mississippi Information
The state of Mississippi is named for the river on its western boundary. Cotton was the main crop in Mississippi when slave labor was used before the Civil War. Cotton, poultry, rice, and soybeans now form the base of the economy. Mississippi also leads in production of catfish with aquaculture fish farms.
